Welcome to Hales Corner, Wisconsin

Milwaukee, WI. A Midwestern city on Lake Michigan's shoreline. Conjure up an image of brats on the grill, cheese curds, and ice-cold beer. But more significantly, it's the city where my Norwegian grandfolks reside and where my dad spent his early twenties.

FRI, APRIL 23rd

Upon arrival, Grandpa Roger shared a bit of Wisconsin history. In 1880, native Germans made up 27% of Milwaukee's population. They introduced America to what is now a world-class beverage: Beer. In the evening, we had dinner at That's Amore Italian Cafe.

SAT, APRIL 24

Grandpa Roger made legit buttermilk pancakes for breakfast, not the mix from Bisquik. He shared stories about my dad owning a gold Chevy Camaro, and his children: Sue, Laura, and John. Grandpa Roger is 9-years younger than Grandma Almira. Grandpa Roger's family owned a farm in Minnesota and rented out the land while Grandma Almira's family owned a farm in Wisconsin. They met in Anchorage, Alaska and married on July 15, 1955 at 8 o'clock at Central Lutheran Church.

A family friend called and relayed sad news about her husband passing away in his sleep. My dad and grandpa made arrangements to visit the family friend to pay their regards.

Laura's husband, Mark, generously provided tickets for us to watch the Milwaukee Brewers play against the Chicago Cubs. Field infield box seats.

SUN, APRIL 25th

Welcome to Atonement Lutheran Church! I met the man who taught my dad to drive a car. His name is Larry.

Gospel // John 10:22-30

At that time the festival of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the portico of Solomon. So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly." Jesus answered, "I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name testify to me; but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep. My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father's hand. The Father and I are one."

To summarize,
